Knoxville has nominated local “Pay-it-Forward” professional photographer Ben K. Moser for three of Cityview Magazine’s 2013 Best of the Best awards. The nominated categories include “Photographer – Portrait,” “Photographer – Wedding,” and “Photographer – Commercial.”

The city-wide polling effort produced and published by the popular local lifestyle magazine allows all Knoxvillians to vote, but only after they have voted for a minimum of 50 different categories. This makes the voting process more genuine and there are no “one-off” votes. The nomination process also requires verification by the Cityview staff before being added to the ballot.

Moser is not a native Knoxvillian, but having lived near the city’s center for the better part of a decade, he now considers himself “just another local.” He isn’t just another local, however, as he is constantly looking for creative ways to give back to this community and beyond through his fledgling wedding photography / wedding videography small business, Knox Wedding Creative.

I just wanted to give a major shout out to Ben K. Moser with Knox Wedding Creative for taking this photo! It was great working with him and I couldn’t be more excited. This is a great company that provided awesome photos. If you are looking for an excellent product, I highly recommend them.

Moser was very grateful for the Knoxville community’s support in nominating and voting for him.

“I am extremely thankful to the community for even thinking of me in the conversation of the “Best of the Best” professional photographers in Knoxville,” said Moser. “I appreciate the support of those who did vote for me. It is an honor to serve my clients and the community by providing folks an option to help other people simply by investing in quality portraiture.”

Moser is very active in the East Tennessee community. Beyond the new Big Brothers Big Sisters relationship, his company has donated time and/or money in 2013 to the Chadasha Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure (Knoxville), the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America, Professional Photographers of East Tennessee, Business Network International, Calvary Baptist Church (Knoxville), and Men of Fire For God, among others.

The awards, which include “First-Place” in the “Electronic Imaging” category and “Distinguished Portrait” in the “Children’s Portraiture” category, were announced at the Professional Photographers of East Tennessee (PPETN) Annual Print Salon competition earlier this year. Moser, the youngest professional active member of PPETN and owner of Knox Wedding Creative, competed against more than 75 total image submissions from the area’s most-respected professionals.

“I am extremely humbled to be included in this elite group of talented photographers, and it is my sincere hope that folks will recognize my purpose as a professional is simply to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most,” Moser said. “That purpose is reflected in my distinctive business model, and I hope these awards will prompt people to discover the incredible impact the Chadasha Foundation is having in Haiti and the Dominican.”

Moser’s award-winning images have both local and overseas flair as well. His first-place image includes elements from Knoxville’s famous L&N building and a Civil War battlefield in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The distinguished child portrait was taken of a young Haitian boy in a tent city outside Port-au-Prince, Haiti, while volunteering with the Chadasha Foundation.

“It is refreshing to see a talented young professional that understands the importance of giving at his age,” PPETN President Colby McLemore said. “Ben performed extraordinarily well in his first professional competition—his images are consistently exceptional, and his approach to combining his visual creativity with his non-profit service is both unique and admirable. We are excited to have him as a member of PPETN and look forward to his continued development.”

Moser has served in his current volunteer staff position as Director of Media for the Chadasha Foundation since 2011. The Chadasha Foundation is a faith-based organization founded by East Tennesseans to provide spiritual and physical healing to the poor in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Chadasha’s efforts focus primarily on medical and children’s ministries, among others.

He founded Knox Wedding Creative to provide East Tennesseans with quality professional wedding photography and video production services from a small business dedicated to helping others—instead of maximizing profits. Revenue generated supports Knox Wedding Creative’s commitment to provide professional visual communication services to Chadasha at no cost to the foundation.
