This image, titled “Beautiful Chaos,” won First Place in the Electronic Imaging category at the 2013 Professional Photographers of East Tennessee Imaging Salon (Competition).

The awards, which include “First-Place” in the “Electronic Imaging” category and “Distinguished Portrait” in the “Children’s Portraiture” category, were announced at the Professional Photographers of East Tennessee (PPETN) Annual Print Salon competition earlier this year. Moser, the youngest professional active member of PPETN and owner of Knox Wedding Creative, competed against more than 75 total image submissions from the area’s most-respected professionals.

“I am extremely humbled to be included in this elite group of talented photographers, and it is my sincere hope that folks will recognize my purpose as a professional is simply to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most,” Moser said. “That purpose is reflected in my distinctive business model, and I hope these awards will prompt people to discover the incredible impact the Chadasha Foundation is having in Haiti and the Dominican.”

Moser’s award-winning images have both local and overseas flair as well. His first-place image includes elements from Knoxville’s famous L&N building and a Civil War battlefield in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The distinguished child portrait was taken of a young Haitian boy in a tent city outside Port-au-Prince, Haiti, while volunteering with the Chadasha Foundation.

“It is refreshing to see a talented young professional that understands the importance of giving at his age,” PPETN President Colby McLemore said. “Ben performed extraordinarily well in his first professional competition—his images are consistently exceptional, and his approach to combining his visual creativity with his non-profit service is both unique and admirable. We are excited to have him as a member of PPETN and look forward to his continued development.”

Moser has served in his current volunteer staff position as Director of Media for the Chadasha Foundation since 2011. The Chadasha Foundation is a faith-based organization founded by East Tennesseans to provide spiritual and physical healing to the poor in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Chadasha’s efforts focus primarily on medical and children’s ministries, among others.

He founded Knox Wedding Creative to provide East Tennesseans with quality professional wedding photography and video production services from a small business dedicated to helping others—instead of maximizing profits. Revenue generated supports Knox Wedding Creative’s commitment to provide professional visual communication services to Chadasha at no cost to the foundation.
