Knox Wedding Creative’s founder and owner, Ben K. Moser, has been nominated for the city’s top honors in three categories in 2013

Ben K. Moser (2013)

Knoxville has nominated local “Pay-it-Forward” professional photographer Ben K. Moser for three of Cityview Magazine’s 2013 Best of the Best awards. The nominated categories include “Photographer – Portrait,” “Photographer – Wedding,” and “Photographer – Commercial.”

The city-wide polling effort produced and published by the popular local lifestyle magazine allows all Knoxvillians to vote, but only after they have voted for a minimum of 50 different categories. This makes the voting process more genuine and there are no “one-off” votes. The nomination process also requires verification by the Cityview staff before being added to the ballot.

Moser is not a native Knoxvillian, but having lived near the city’s center for the better part of a decade, he now considers himself “just another local.” He isn’t just another local, however, as he is constantly looking for creative ways to give back to this community and beyond through his fledgling wedding photography / wedding videography small business, Knox Wedding Creative.

I just wanted to give a major shout out to Ben K. Moser with Knox Wedding Creative for taking this photo! It was great working with him and I couldn’t be more excited. This is a great company that provided awesome photos. If you are looking for an excellent product, I highly recommend them.

Moser was very grateful for the Knoxville community’s support in nominating and voting for him.

“I am extremely thankful to the community for even thinking of me in the conversation of the “Best of the Best” professional photographers in Knoxville,” said Moser. “I appreciate the support of those who did vote for me. It is an honor to serve my clients and the community by providing folks an option to help other people simply by investing in quality portraiture.”

Moser is very active in the East Tennessee community. Beyond the new Big Brothers Big Sisters relationship, his company has donated time and/or money in 2013 to the Chadasha Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure (Knoxville), the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America, Professional Photographers of East Tennessee, Business Network International, Calvary Baptist Church (Knoxville), and Men of Fire For God, among others.

Robbie + Jason’s Cinematic Wedding Movie Trailer: "Unexpected Blessings"

Without a doubt, Robbie and Jason’s wedding at the Museum of Appalachia was one of the most beautiful, fun, and exciting “gettin’ hitched” days we’ve ever had the privilege of capturing! See a few of the highlights for yourself in the Official Trailer for their wedding film, “Unexpected Blessings” below (the feature film is embedded at the bottom of the post).

Over the course of the year (we first met Robbie and Jason at the Pink Bridal Show in January), we have been so blessed to get to know this quirky and cute couple! They have such a great sense of humor, and from a wedding cinematographer and engagement photographer’s viewpoint, they could not have been any easier or more fun to work with.

Knoxville Wedding Cinematography - Wedding Movie Poster

One of the really fun products we love to create for our couples is authentic wedding movie posters from their engagement experience images! It’s full-sized and printed just like the real movie posters you see in theaters every week…except we have an amazing new wood frame vendor that takes the presentation of these beautiful posters to an unparalleled level!

During our bride and groom cinema interviews (where we film exclusive and special interviews of the bride- and groom-to-be a week or two before their wedding), we were all worried about the impending weather that has plagued weddings all year. Luckily it passed the day before their wedding day!

Their outdoor ceremony was gorgeous in front of the Hall of Fame mansion at the Museum of Appalachia, as the sun was peeking through the trees surrounding the lawn. The venue was adorned with wonderful flowers and decorations from the talented Samuel Franklin, which only set the stage for what can only be described as a magical wedding ceremony.

From the bride arriving in a white horse-drawn carriage to the impeccably-timed music from Jim Ogle of Special Notes Entertainment Agency as each member of the wedding party entered, this was truly a special occasion.

The reception was entertaining, again thanks to Jim Ogle and Special Notes, and the cakes were beautiful as well…especially the groom’s cake, which was a sketchpad with a self-portrait sketch of the couple drawn by Jason himself!

A special thanks to the Museum of Appalachia staff, Jim Ogle of Special Notes Entertainment Agency, Sam Franklin, and Perfect Capture Photography for being such incredible vendors to work with! The other vendors (listed on their wedding movie poster) also did a great job: Nancy Kendrick (Wedding Planner), Magpies (Cakes), Creative Catering, White Lace & Promises (Her dress), Savvi Formalwear (His tux), Markman’s Jewelers (rings), Chaplain Fred Patterson (Ceremony Officiant), All Occasions Party Rental, Mary Kay, New Release Salon, and Cottontail Press.

Lastly, thank you to the award-winning and extremely talented photographer, Sheila Hannus, for her hard work as a second video shooter! She did an excellent job and many of her shots are in the trailer above.

Local Philanthropic Photographer Wins East Tennessee Pro Photo Competition

Professional Photographers of East Tennessee Awards Two Honors To Young Knoxville-Based Missionary Photographer At Annual Image Competition

The local affiliate of Professional Photographers of America awarded two top honors to first-time competitor and 25- year-old active member Ben K. Moser, a Knoxville-based professional photographer who also serves as the Director of Media for an international non-profit organization.

This image, titled “Beautiful Chaos,” won First Place in the Electronic Imaging category at the 2013 Professional Photographers of East Tennessee Imaging Salon (Competition).

The awards, which include “First-Place” in the “Electronic Imaging” category and “Distinguished Portrait” in the “Children’s Portraiture” category, were announced at the Professional Photographers of East Tennessee (PPETN) Annual Print Salon competition earlier this year. Moser, the youngest professional active member of PPETN and owner of Knox Wedding Creative, competed against more than 75 total image submissions from the area’s most-respected professionals.

“I am extremely humbled to be included in this elite group of talented photographers, and it is my sincere hope that folks will recognize my purpose as a professional is simply to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most,” Moser said. “That purpose is reflected in my distinctive business model, and I hope these awards will prompt people to discover the incredible impact the Chadasha Foundation is having in Haiti and the Dominican.”

Moser’s award-winning images have both local and overseas flair as well. His first-place image includes elements from Knoxville’s famous L&N building and a Civil War battlefield in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The distinguished child portrait was taken of a young Haitian boy in a tent city outside Port-au-Prince, Haiti, while volunteering with the Chadasha Foundation.

“It is refreshing to see a talented young professional that understands the importance of giving at his age,” PPETN President Colby McLemore said. “Ben performed extraordinarily well in his first professional competition—his images are consistently exceptional, and his approach to combining his visual creativity with his non-profit service is both unique and admirable. We are excited to have him as a member of PPETN and look forward to his continued development.”

This image, titled “Curiosity” won Distinguished Portrait in the Children’s Portraiture category at the 2013 Professional Photographers of East Tennessee Imaging Salon (Competition).

Moser has served in his current volunteer staff position as Director of Media for the Chadasha Foundation since 2011. The Chadasha Foundation is a faith-based organization founded by East Tennesseans to provide spiritual and physical healing to the poor in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Chadasha’s efforts focus primarily on medical and children’s ministries, among others.

He founded Knox Wedding Creative to provide East Tennesseans with quality professional wedding photography and video production services from a small business dedicated to helping others—instead of maximizing profits. Revenue generated supports Knox Wedding Creative’s commitment to provide professional visual communication services to Chadasha at no cost to the foundation. Robbie + Jason | Engagement Photography at Knoxville Botanical Gardens & Downtown Knoxville | Knoxville Wedding Videographer

Ashley + John | Capitol Theatre Wedding Photographer in Maryville

Serving as Ashley and John’s wedding photographer at The Capitol Theatre in Maryville, Tenn. was an absolute hoot! (See what we did there??) Ashley and John are another successful online match, as John’s brother and best man Ralph pointed out in his standup-worthy comedic toast. The thing we love about both Ashley and John is that they absolutely adore John’s beautiful 9-year-old daughter Olivia. She is the light of their relationship, and it’s amazing how visibly evident Ashley and Olivia have bonded.

They got hitched on March 30, 2013—the day before Easter—and it was a fantastic Saturday for such a beautiful “Old Hollywood”-themed wedding in East Tennessee. The theme matched the venue perfectly, as the restored Capitol Theatre oozes classic Hollywood with trendy “art-deco”-style from the front steps all the way to the hidden “Man Cave” just inside the back door. If you’ve never been to a wedding here, you haven’t truly experienced a modern indoor wedding—complete with laser lights, screens, and all the Hollywood charm you can imagine tucked away in that cave in the basement.

The floral arrangements included traditional red roses—to match the red and black wedding colors—and were provided by the award-winning Flowers and Such, and they included a special bouquet with a United States Marine Corps ring on display. Ashley’s gorgeous gown is from the wonderful women at Wedding Wonderland.

One noticeable difference in their reception is that Ashley and John performed some very slick and fun ballroom dancing moves for their First Dance instead of the simple sway of an untrained couple. They prepared for their dance months ahead of time with lessons from Kristina LaBerge, a talented dance instructor at Absolute Ballroom. Also, the beautiful white bedazzled cake and the wild moto-cake were crafted by the beautiful ladies at the Cake Girlz Bakery in Maryville. None other than Sweet P’s BBQ and Soul House provided the melt-in-your-mouth catering as well!

John also owns his own construction company with his brother, Ralph, called Cook Bros. Construction. They are the best at quality and service, so should any contracting needs come up, ring him up—after his honeymoon in Sandals, Jamaica, of course!

Thanks for checking out Ashley + John’s wedding here at KnoxKnot! It was a blast to capture their wedding photography. To find out more about them and see more of their photos, visit their KnoxKnot Wedding Website!
